Have you been infested with SpySheriff

Some people will do almost anything for cash. Today my computer has been
infected with SpySheriff, a completely unwanted program pretending to discover
SPYware that other program do not see.

Just to impress, they have opted for a half dozen terrible threats which I
suspect is all in fantasy land. Now had it been 1 or two or maybe even 5 then I
would have had some worry but half a dozen sound like someone gathering eggs on
a farm. I suppose it is slightly better than the bakers dozen.

I wonder, how to keep these kind of people out of the computer. Just to let you
have a look and verify that you have the same threats on you computer, I have
set up a jpeg of the SCARY warning that arrived to tell the computer was
corrupted by these people.

You can see and download that picture at

To think I once thought you to be reasonably up on computers and yet you cannot
see or dare to test something for which there is absolutely no reason to worry.

You really have a bee in the bonnet but then I should have been warned now that
I see you have a hotmail address. Anymore garbage from you and you will be on to
my kill filter before you can draw breath.

I DO NOT ENCOURAGE SPAM AND WILL SPEND HOURS TRYING TO FIND THE CULPRITS.

I most certainly will not post spam or misleading information.

Cheers George - maybe you will wake up some day.

How is anyone supposed to know that there's nothing to worry about? You
posted a link to something that could be a folder or a file of unknown
type. Reasonable, cautious people don't click on such links.

I wish you well in your endeavors, although I think it time wasted.

Indeed. and I had something better to do with Photoshop today so I simply
formatted C: drive and reinstalled the OS and restored - that the end of a saga.

Now when you go surfing the Internet do so as a debilitated user. That will
stop the stuff from getting in that Spy Sheriff uses to get aholt of you.
Setting IE security is NOT enough.
