Have to be Power Users for Word Spell-check?

We replaced 25 old computers on our domain with new ones.
The new clients run XP Pro. We have Office 97
Professional on these.

We can only get the spell checker to work if the users are
put in as Power Users. Why would that be?

Newer versions of Office don't demand this, I believe. But you should post
in an Office group for more help.

Note that Office 97 is old, buggy and unsupported - I'd look into upgrading
to Office 2003.

Updating 25 computers to office 2003 is a lot of money especially if all you
need is simple word processing.

Perhaps you should look into this cheaper and compatible alternative

or even www.openoffice.org
