Expected that I guess but I am now, with Nero, NOT able to 'compress it' for
getting onto a CD. or even DVD...
Sliced show and got a 2.6 gig from my orign 4.9 gig DV AVI files.
Still my NERO cant seem to do anything with it in any form. Think its Nero
5.5.....
I use 2 machines, Toshiba laptop no DVDR drive, but have working USB DVE R
OR +RW drive. Said drive can also be moved to my Gateway which too has no
burnable DVD drive, ROM only.
So I sit now with a couplea huge OK files and nuttin to do with em, cant
burn em in this size, etc etc.
So in spite of Papa J's fine site I tooo am mired in the quicksand of all
this.
Sure hope I can get some help to finailze this stuff...!!!!
TIA

In Nero Express, import the file and then tell it you want to create a VIDEO
DVD.

If you want something really quick and easy, then use Cyberlink's
PowerDirector or Intervideo's WinDVD Creator. Neither of them will make
DATA DVDs, but both will happily make VIDEO DVDs. I believe there are trial
versions of both at their respective websites.... www.gocyberlink.com and
www.intervideo.com

thanx cari. I am unable to do as you suggest, my Nero is a couple yrs old
and seems to support primarily CD. I have since figgered to try THEIR entire
slide show and its easy to input my old shows files. Should finish by
Monday, will let U know how it had worked. Assume burn will be on CD....

Likewise I have one of those two programs, tho an OE one which gets short
shrift on features AND is close to 3 yrs old......

To add to what Cari said don't worry about the physical size of the DV-AVI
file since Nero will compress it when it creates the DVD anyway. If the
actual movie is under 1 hour long then you should have no problem fitting it
on a DVD without quality issues.
Also if your version of Nero doesn't include Nero Vision Express then that
is the issue since you need NVE to create a DVD.
If that is the case Cari provided links to other programs and I have quite a
few links on my website as well that offer free trial downloads.
