Have removed the short cut to the recycle bin

Somehow I deleted the short cut icon from the desktop. How do I replace it?
Items are deleted, but I cant locate them or empy the recycle bin.

Right click the desktop - personalise
Choose "change desktop icons" from the top of the left hand pane.
Tick the recycle bin checkbox.
