have microsoft removed 'show all' button from Powerpoint 2003?

I am trying to reveal the text formatting in Powerpoint 2003, yet the show
all button (still there in word) has vanished. Even in outline view using the
show formatting button does not show spaces or paragraph marks or anything
useful, it just changes the text view in the notes pane. Can somebody please
help me with this terrible program?

To my knowledge PowerPoint has NEVER had a "Show/Hide Formatting" icon like
Word. It is not a word processor. The Notes pane is just a container of
text for the students or the speaker, and not normally used as complicated
formatted text. SORRY!
