I believe there are some (legitimate) companies that do this kind of thing here in the UK too... but wouldn't it also make a great phishing scam? Lots of details freely given (by the applicant) for the promise of easy income. Blame the sceptic in me :D

Yeah, would be a good way to know when a house is empty ;)

Like TC says, there are lots of legit companies that do this, but I'm sure this isn't one of them.

I, too, am a sceptic and tbh I personally wouldn't touch it with a very long bargepole.

I suppose it could be genuine but I just wouldn't risk it. Anyway I'm the world's worst shopper and avoid shopping like the plague. So it was always a non-starter for me. :D

I've been thinking about this and I do wonder why anybody would ever have even the slightest doubt that any unsolicited e-mail is anything but garbage.

Any e-mail where you don't recognise the sender should be deleted. Without question. Or even better blocked by an anti-spamming software application such as Mailwasher.

We are bombarded daily from all angles with advertising from a variety of companies and individuals who want our money. And with e-mail you also get a fair percentage of nasty gits who want your machine to seed or simply to infect you and make your system crash.

So why does anybody EVER open up these e-mails, take the time to read them or even for one moment think they might be genuine?

Especially forum folk here who I assume for the most part are computer and Net savvy.

Bottom line: sender unknown? Then delete/block. Simple.

Anybody going beyond that stage frankly beggars belief.

Well, that's my way of viewing the issue anyway, just remember curiosity killed the cat and the Trojan Horse incident.
