Center. I try to set up TV and it says "Tuner not found". i have tried "To
All With Vista TV Tuner Card Problems" and that didn't work. Please help!

-thanks

I have Vista Home Premium, Hauppage WinTV HVR-1600 and it works fine, so we
can get it to work!

I went to the Hauppage site and downloaded Vista drivers from there. Only
the Drivers are necessary none of the other software such as WinTV is
needed.

note that the TV tuner shows up under Sound, Video and game controllers in
Device Manager.

Driver version that I ended up with is 1.62.25002.0 dated 1/2/2007

Step one: have you fetched the drivers from the Hauppage web site?

i did download the drivers from there but my driver version is 1.62.24326.0
dated 11/22/2006 hmmmmm.

i used WinTV to see if it would work, and it did. i was able to view one
channel and when i tried to do anything else, it froze and i had to close it.

BTW - did you download the 3.2a cd .zip file from Hauppauge?

I am almost positive I downloaded CD version 3.3C (the disk that came with
unit was Version 3.3B).
Looking at the web site right now it list 3.2a as the correct one!!

The file name that I downloaded was hvr-1600_installer.zip, 30422KB which
seems to go along with 3.3C.
Note that in the doc for 3.3C for HVR 950 (beta area) it says
'hvr-1600_installer.zip.
I am much confused?? (sort of normal actually)

It is usually a really bad idea to ignore the manufacture advise but you
might try CD 3.3C, note that it is called BETA
so maybe they found something that was wrong with using in on the 1600 and
reverted back to older version till they get it fixed.
In my setup the WinTV program will not scan, at least if only the digital
port is used.

The zip file is some 30 MB big so I doubt that your mail system would accept
it as an attachement.
I might be able to temporarly make it available on a web site but I am not
very experienced at that.
Don't have much else to offer...

ok, so i got the 1.62.25002.0 drivers installed, i guess i downloaded the
wrong drivers from a different website. oops

but Vista Media Center still doesnt recognize it.

do i need any special decoders for MPEG?

I would recommend that you run the hcwclear.exe program to remove everything
from hauppauge.
full power off reboot
then run the hcwdriverinstall.exe program

Michael
(running out of ideas fast here)

whoops: MPEG question, I did not do anything in that regard - everything
necessary came in with the hauppauge drivers.

i did all that and it still doesnt work. gah!

so you set up your tv signal in vista mc?

M

Michael

Yup,
Vista Home premium.
Started media center, it had the card all ready to go, needed to scan, found
the primary digital channels and it off to the races.

I have fiddled with it a few times and reset the tv. and it finds it each
time

Start Media Center
Scroll to Tasks , settings
TV
Setup TV signal

What does your system do at that point?

You have exhausted my ideas. I suggest you move to the
microsoft.public.windows.mediacenter user group.
There have been several 'tuner not found' threads there so perhaps help will
come from that direction.
Best of luck..

I uninstall all the Hauppauge stuff, then ran the CLEANER, then deleted
the directories, then reinstalled from the downloaded program, not the disk.
