Hauppauge TV PVR-150 - DECODER MALFUNCTION

Hi -

TV tuner will not work. Anyone had this problem and fixed it??

I purchased a Hauppauge TV PVR-150 and installed it, Media Center worked
fine with no problems initially.

Recently, I had to do a re-install of Vista (RC-2 5744), and now, I can't
get the TV tuner to work. When I start Media Center and go to "Live TV", I
get the error message: "DECODER ERROR - THE VIDEO DECODER HAS MALFUNCTIONED
OR IS NOT INSTALLED - PLEASE RESTART MEDIA CENTER OR THE COMPUTER"

I have tried installing all the Hauppauge Win TV drivers/software and the
Windows Vista driver file, as well. The tech from Hauppauge told me this
should not happen, as the decoder is built in to Vista, and that I should
try a 3rd party decoder.

The Hauppauge website says this error is not due to the TV tuner, but rather
the DVD decoder or the VGA graphics driver. ( I thnk this reference is to
the Windows XP Media Center 2005, tho)

I am using the same VGA graphics driver I was using before when the TV tuner
worked, and the graphics are otherwise fine, so I don't think this is the
issue. I have installed all the Hauppauge software/drivers that are
available.

Also, the card works fine if I boot to Windows XP Pro, but I want to use it
in Vista -- I like Media Center

I believe the Vista MCE mpeg decoder expired on Jan. 1
You can try to roll back the system clock and see if it works.

I have a PVR-150 working without any problem in VISTA RC2 using either the
built in dedcoder or the NVIDIA Decoder. I can run the tuner either in the
VISTA MC application or in the Hauppauge WinTV2K application.
What release of the Vista drivers for the 150 card do you have installed?

I am using the Vista drivers 20.43_24108 downloaded from the Hauppauge
website. The MCE was working perfectly using this driver and nothing else
before I did the re-install. I have also tried installing the Windows XP
files, as well with no luck.

Did you run the XP install XP compatibility mode?
