Hardware Wizard permanantly running. Cannot access it.

Hi, I am running a Dell Dimension 5000 desktop and windows XP professional
with a high enough spec for most applications anyone would want to run.

I installed Nokia PC Suite when my Mobile Phone arrived, Couldn't get it to
work so I unistalled it. On trying to install a newer version of the same
software on the machine I found that I couldn't do so and got the errror
message.

"Only one device can be instaled at a time. Another device is being
installed. When this finishes you can retry this wizard"

This may not be the exact wording of the error message because I use the
Welsh Language version of the Windows interface and have translated it. The
meaning is clear enough though.

I also have the same message when I try and install the drivers for the Data
cable.

I have also found that I cannot access the Hardware Wizard via the Contorl
Panel as the same message is displayed.

I have run the System Restore to a point previous to the installation of the
PC Suite but to no avail.

Can anyone help. I have installed the new PC Suite successfully on my older
machine by the way

All advice gratefully recieved.

Thanks Chris

Having the same problem. Tried to isolate by disconnecting all USB devices including printer. shut down all but necessary processes but still cannot access. Tried restore - did not change. CPU usage is also pulsating. Device manager screen will not stabalize. Software programs will run but tend to hang. Mouse becomes erratic the longer I stay running. Checked for malware/adware and virus - none found.
