Hardware Profile

Hi people,
Can anyone answer the question, is there a default
hardware profile. if not I would like to delete the that
is on my machine. I have had no sound after installing my
harddrive in to a new machine. I cant uninstall the
legacy sound drivers from microsoft.

Don't know about a default hardware profile, but sound
problems are the norm rather than the exception. You
shouldn't need to uninstall the Microsoft legacy sound
drivers, but you will need to update the sound device
with the drivers that are made for that device. If the
sound is built into the MB then you can go to the MB
website and download the appropriate drive. If it is an
ad-in sound card you can also find sound drivers from teh
sound card vendor website. Then in Device Manager, open
up the properties on the sonud device and click on update
driver. Then navigate to the folder where you downloaded
the sound driver and that should take care of it (you may
need to reboot).

still be able to remove any item under a catagory in
device manager that I choose, while logged in as admin.
Not being able to just implies that there is something
fishy going on. And I am still with out any sound. Do you
know what it is like with out any sound in the morning.
