hardware problem

had a bad storm and power went out....since...when I power on the
system, it starts to boot and after about 15 seconds the computer
powers down...Is it a bad power supply or maybe the configuration is
hinky.

Is there a beep or series of beeps when you power up?
Also is there any information of any type displayed on the monitor?

I had a similar scenario recently (power surge tripped rcd, pc wouldn't boot
afterwards). Swapped out all except motherboard and cpu - nothing helped.
Upgraded the box with new cpu, motherboard, ram and os (was useless Win ME)
to fix as it was a socket 370 Celeron 500 - no replacement parts anyway.
Have since come accross a good s370 mb and confirmed the cpu as ok - the
motherboard therefore died with the power surge. If you do not have access
to enough swap out parts to diagnose any competent pc repair outlet should be
able to diagnose for minimal cost.
