We have a computer with hardware devices that have stopped
working. We went into Device Manager to view the
properties of certain hardware devices. When the "driver"
tab is selected it hangs; nothing happens. This happens
with all our hardware devices when we click the drivers
tab. A side note: When we selected hardware wizard, the
system said it was unable to find some file (I believe it
was rundll32.exe); we navigated to it for it to work.

Any ideas what is going on? Suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks!

it sounds like some system files are corrupted and or
missing, try booting in safe mode f8 and running
sfc /scannow you may need your original install cd.

and or try regular mode.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, you might try a repair
install, boot with the install cd, choose install it will
scan your hd for an existing OS and then allow you to
choose repair, you will need to reapply service packs
after doing this. it will not erase any data! just
replace windows files.
