hardrive on startup

Whenever i start up my pc the hardrive starts running straight away and doesnt stop for a very long time which slows everything down icluding internet. I am using AOL 9.0, limewire and msn messenger but apart from that nothing else. Limewire and messenger dont run as soon as my pc is turned on so i dont know why its so slow, please help cheers!!!

Sounds like something is thrashing your hard drive at start up.
Go to start-run and type msconfig look at the startup tab. Perhaps you have
an anti virus program set to scan the disk on start up?
