hello
i want to install a second harddrive to my pc but im
not sure about is, do i have to format the second
harddrive as this second harddrive as an operating system
on it. please can some one help as im new to all this and
any help would be very appreciated and, also is there any
info on formatting an hardrive many thanx

Hard drives come with installation instructions.... as this is a previously
used drive, they can be downloaded from the manufacturer's website.

Short summary....

Look at the back of the drive and check the jumpers. Depending on where you
want to install the drive (which IDE Controller) you may have to change
jumper settings from Master to Slave.

Install it in the PC and start the PC. Go into the BIOS and ensure the
drive is 'seen' by the BIOS correctly. Save settings and exit.

Start the PC and boot into Windows..... Right click on My Computer and
select Manage... On the following screen, click on Disk Management....the
drive should now show up on the right hand side where you can assign it a
drive letter.

From Windows Explorer, check there is no data on it that you wish to keep.
If there is, move it somewhere else.

Go back to Disk Management..... right click on the drive you want to
format... and off it will go, just remember that all this data will then be
gone.

thanx for the reply, please can u tell me how i then say
if i wanted to install another operating system on that
hardrive wat would i have to do, after i have formatted
that harddrive many thanx
