Harddisk memory walking away

Please help I'm running out of memory and I don't know where it's going.
I had approx. 6GB of free space left on my C drive. I added and deleted a
few programs over the last month. Today, I realized my C drive space was very
low, 358MB, so I deleted a video that was 1.3GB, that bumped me back up to
1.6GB, ok. I go out for a few hours its gone down to 358MB. I did some work
its now at 343MB. I've decided to move another file which is 350MB. I'm back
to 739MB and holding.

I've never seen anything like this. I don't know what to do.
I looked at temporary Internet/Java cache. Which I have marked at 50MB

At first I thought it was Bittorrent using up virtual memory so I stopped
Bittorrent. That wasn't it memory kept disappearing.

I've done all the virus checks I can and the computer says I'm clean.

Any help anyone can give would be appreciated....

I'm running Windows XP Pro SP2 Version 2002

Hey dobey,
I ran a search like you said and nothing showed up out of the ordinary. The
largest file is called "Software" found in C:\Windows\system32\config at 27MB.

I deleted a few more files so I could add some space to my shrinking C
drive. After deleting a few files I had 913MB after a few minutes I was down
to 862MB. I turned my computer off for a few hours. Guess what I lost more
memory while the computer was off. 679MB now.

This is really weird...

Rock, I used TreeSize as you mentioned. Everything looks normal. One thing
that seems strange is 2GB of files in the root of C, I opened the hidden
files to check it out. The hidden files don't amount to 2GB, adding all the
files together don't even total to 2GB.

I was searching for files and programs to free up some more disk space. I
found a huge program in my C drive that I deleted from E drive months ago. I
downloaded a show called Joey to my E drive, I watched it and deleted. Now I
find it in my C drive. I know bittorrent does a temporary store until the
whole program is downloaded but I've never seen bittorrent save anything on
my C drive unless I tell it too. I always save files to me D or E drive.

Can bittorrent be my problem? While downloading files it's deleting disk
space.
The file was saved in.... C:/document and setting/admin/application
data/bittorrent/incomplete

Sorry I can't say for sure whether bittorrent is the problem. I'm not
familiar with it. Only you can monitor your system to see what's going on
with the space.
