Harddisk error

dh

When my WinXP boot up, I got "Detecting Primary Master: None."
However, the slave harddisk is detectable.
I have tried to boot from CDROM, but failed.
The message is "No Emulation"
What is the problem?
How to fix it?
Thanx

Hi dh, check your jumpers and boot order, to do just press DEL key when the
first startup screen appears, go across to BOOT and check that your primary
HDD is selected!
hopeitworkz!!
(p.s this happened to my computer!)

Thanx for your reply.
The BOOT->primary HDD is selected.
The MAIN->primary master is set to be AUTO.

Hi, again, dh!

Now see what you've done! :>(

By starting multiple threads saying the same thing less than 12 hours apart,
you are having to retype everything twice. And people trying to help you
are getting very confused as to what has and has not been asked and
answered, or advised and tried.

See the responses - from me and others - in the other thread.

It sounds as if your hard drive may have joined the dearly departed.

1. Go into the BIOS setup and look for an item on the main screen to
"autodetect hard drives". If that cannot find the drive then it is
quite likely that the drive is defunct.

2. Go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site and download their
diagnostic utility, which will usually create a bootable diskette for
testing. Boot the computer with the utility diskette and see what it
tells you about the hard drive.

Good luck
