Hard drives won't autoplay

I've noticed that in "My Computer" that the drive icons are gone for
my two physical hard drives except for the "hidden partitions" used
for system restore (on an HP 523N).

I don't a ghost restore which I'm positive they were there when I did
the ghost backup, but they still don't show up.
I've tried changing their icons but they still show a "paper" icon.
The problem is when I double-click it says to go to the control panel
and reinstall devices.

What goes? I'm running XP home on my Compaq.

Thank you but I solved it. Nero installed autoplay.inf files in my
root directories.

I deleted them and that fixed the problem.
