Hard drives on P4s800d-e are running in Pio mode?

Rick

Just installed this board and all seems to work ok with the exception
of the Mode two of my HD's are running in. I have 2 WD drives on the
Pri and secondary IDE ports and they are running in Pio mode 4, so
says the SiS IDE utility. It says they have the ability to run in udma
5 and I would like to make that so. I bought the board as a
referbished model and it came with no CD or manual ( I dl'd the manual
and all the drivers I could find at Asus' site)

There is no setting in Device manager to change the mode of the drive.
Is there a driver or something I may have missed? I have installed the
siside204a driver which I think was/is correct. Any help is
appreciated.

I'm going to answer my own question.. After trying just about
everything else, I installed the new beta bios and now I'm in UDMA 5
mode. Must of been a known problem is Asus fixed it.

14. Do we need to install SiS IDE Driver under Windows system?
A: No, Win95 OSR2, Win98, Win98se, WinMe, and Win2000 all can
support PIO/DMA/UDMA mode well, there is no need to install
SiS driver for system operation. But it is suggested to use
SiS IDE driver for SiS5513, 5571, 5600A and 5600B0.

5. How to remove your SiS drivers when you don't need it any more?
A: For IDE part, please excute the setup program of the IDE
driver files. Then you can choose uninstall process, and
follow up the wizard to complete the process.

HTH,
Paul
