I currently have a 40 gig hard drive 4mb buffer i went out today and got a 80 gig 8mb buffer how do i swap them with out having to reinstall windows and losing all my programs, networksetting , email ,etc. i tried that file trasfer thing and didn't work.

Out of curiosity, why don't you just put the drive in the machine as a
secondary drive?

I don't know what you mean by "that file tra(n)sfer thing". The new
drive either came with a transfer utility or you can download it from
the drive mftr.'s website. Please repost with a better description of
what you already tried and what happened - more than just that it
"didn't work".

I particularly like PowerQuest DriveCopy. It provides an alternative
Operating System with which to boot and set the new drive as Primary Master,
the older one as Secondary Master (check jumpers for conflicts with CD-ROM,
DVD-ROM, CD-R/W and DVD--R/W drives, if any). You might be able to remove
the older drive completely if it does a thorough job of copying everithing
to the newer one.
