I just installed an 80 Gig hard drive but it only shows
31.4 Gig.
Can someone please tell me why and how to fix

Perhaps you should specify the HD model and manufacturer and what make and
model is your system?

You probably formatted it as a FAT32 partition. They
are limited to 32 GBytes. You can create additional
partitions @ 32 GBytes each, or you can delete the
new partition (and lose all data on it!), then recreate
it as an NTFS partition (WinXP Prof. only).

Pro only? Home can format NTFS, or were you trying to explain something
else?

Make sure you have the drive jumpered correctly. Some have a compatibility
jumper that limits the size of the drive.

I may be wrong but I thought that WinXP Home does
not support NTFS partitions. Please confirm.

you have to install software from the name of the harddrive that you have because you have a older system that wont see the whole drive,or you may have to update the bios
