My 80GB Hard Drive Quit. So Re-nstalled XP Pro and Service pack 2 on to an
old 30GB hard drive I had spare. now lots of problems.
While trying to install service pack two the computer stopped working. after
re-starting I tried to install service pack 2 again but half way through it
came up with an error. and will not install. It keeps saying please put the
original service pack 2 cd in the drive and it is looking for a file when I
installed the xp cd into the cd drive it found the file but then more files
errors came up. Can any one throw any light in this.

It sounds like there are more hardware problems with your computer than
just the 80GB hard drive. Here are some general hardware troubleshooting
steps:

Standard caveat: Testing hardware failures often involves swapping out
suspected parts with known-good parts. If you can't do the testing
yourself and/or are uncomfortable opening your computer, take the
machine to a professional computer repair shop (not your local
equivalent of BigStoreUSA).

Such installation failures are generally caused by hardware problems.
