I was busy with a disc check on one of my secondary drive when my computer
restarted and now the drive is unaccecable. What should I do? I Would prefer
no to format.

Hi PaulyMan,

I would suggest trying another CHKDSK /f on the drive first to see if
it can repair any damage to the file system. Unfortunatly without more
information on what is wrong with the disk (normaly from having a look
with a hex editor) i cannot suggest anything else.

Regards

One easy thing to check is the BIOS settings. Make sure it is still listed.

Unfortunately your description is complete yet not enough info to know what
to advise.

Tell us, if it is unaccessible how would you format it?

I'd be afraid that the drive died and hope I had any valuable data backed
up. If so, I'd remove the drive and reboot. Then I'd shut down, reininstall
it and start up again to see if it's recovered. If not come back and post
again in this thread. It wouldn't necessarily be a bad drive, but we'd have
more details to go by.
