I have a 20 gig Hard Drive I am trying to use in my Grandaughters PC. I
install in the rack and my Bios reads it as there. But my XP OS doesn't
recognise it. How can I force my way into the Hard Drive so to format it? It
says there is no OS on the drive. So I presume the boot sector is bad. Thanks.

Your post is confusing.

You say the BIOS sees the drive

XP does not

Then you say it says no OS on drive?

Are you installing the drive as a second drive? If so then of course no OS.

Did you look under disk management?

Go to Start Run compmgmt.msc

look under storage disk management and see if the disk is listed there. You
may have to import it or activate it. If the drive has nothing on it you
care about best to just format it.
