Hard Drive Problem chkdsk

My hard drive makes a funny noise apparently when it reaches a bad sector,
since it usually behaves normally.

When running chkdsk, the utility gets stuck at 74% complete of vrifying
indexes, step 2 of 5.

Other than saying I have a hard drive which is about to completely fail, is
there anything to be done to complete the utility 100% and hopefully induce
it to fix the bad portion on the disk.

Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Try Start, All Programmes, Accessories, System Tools, Disk CleanUp to
Empty your Recycle Bin and Remove Temporary Internet Files. See if you
get any better result with chkdsk.

HD Tune.(freeware). Download and run it and see what it turns up.

Select the Info tabs and place the cursor on C:\ under Drive letter and
then double click the two page icon ( copy to Clipboard ) and copy into
a further message.

Select the Health tab and then double click the two page icon ( copy to
Clipboard ) and copy into a further message.

Run Error Scan.
