Just purchased a new mb, which detects Western Digital
hard disk drive in BIOS. Ran Win XP installation from CD,
and after hitting F8 to agree to the EULA, an error
message comes up stating "Setup did not find any hard disk
drives installed in your computer". Again, the BIOS
detects the HDD fine. I have used both the "auto" setting
in the BIOS, and set the HDD type as LBA -- both with the
same results. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Installing the drive is not enough. You have to run FDISK to set it up, then
format the drive.

Boot from the XP CD and let it do all the work.

Wrong, you do this when you install XP. Fdisk is not necessary with the XP
installation CD.
