There are several posts here each week about someone
who chose not to backup his/her important files to an
independent medium and who then loses the whole lot
because of some malfunction. It appears that you are
a member of this club too. A 2.5" hard disk in an external
USB case would cost around $100.00 and would make
an excellent backup medium. Time to ponder.

About your question: The problem is not that the new PC
refuses to accept the old disk. It is the Windows
installation that is unable to locate the hardware on
which it was originally installed. You must boot your machine
with your WinXP installation disk, then perform a repair
installation - but only after you have backed up your
important files, including your EMail files.
