Hard drive low on space

I have a hard drive that the system tells me is low on space, yet when
looking at the individual folders they do not add up to more than 50% of the
total space. I have run disk clean up with no improvement and also have
hidden files on view. I also have an empty recycle bin, so can anyone
advise me what I am missing?

Note: This will turn off the Low Diskspace warning on all your drives!

To manually disable the low diskspace notification: Go to:

Start/Run/Regedit: Navigate to...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\
Policies\Explorer

In the right pane, create a new DWORD Value. Name the new value:
NoLowDiskSpaceChecks. Set the value to 1. Exit/Logoff or Reboot.
