Hard Drive Limit

Hello all. I am going to be installing a new server as an NT 4.0 BDC, then
promoting to PDC, and upgrading it to 2003. The server has a 32 GB system
drive. NT has limitations. How can I setup this so the drive stays as 1
logical drive (c:\) and does not run into the NT limitation?

TIA - Jason

Jason,

boot from the w2k3 cd and create a 32GB partition and format this one.
after formating stop this installation and boot again with the nt4 cd and do
not delete this partition but format it...

cheers

It was a good thought, but I tested this and when you get to the install and
format part for NT (without deleting the partition I created earlier with
2003), is says the partition is still too big to format.

So far the only way to prepare this is to create the largest NT system
partition you can (4GB I believe) and do not do anything with the extra
space. Then when you upgrade to 2003, you also upgrade the disk to dynamic,
and create another volume with the left-over space. You will have 2 volumes,
1 for OS and use the other for AD files...
