I have a computer running Windows XP Home Edition SP2. It has a 80GB
harddrive and is showing that the hard drive has about 24 GB of data stored
on it. I know this isn't correct...there may be like 10GB on there at most. I
have also noticed just recently that the Harddrive is severely fragmented and
when I try to defrag it, I don't have much success at all. I have run virus
scans and and Chkdsk and still haven't discovered the root of the problem.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try R.clicking the drive in my computer, properties, see what specs you get.Or
type:diskmgmt.msc In run,chk specs.In defrag,one must run disk cleanup
before
defrag, actually the best way for both is to go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:
CLEANMGR After type:Defrag C: When thru type:EXIT Also,if only 1 hd is on
line, another with a page file eliminates alot of fragmentation, also setting
C:
drive w/o a page file,reboot pc,then run defrag again,after reset page
file.XP
cant defrag files that are in use.......
