getting message 'windows could not start because the following file is
missing or corrupt'
windows\system32\config\system
ant ideas.
 
Thanks Will,when I put the xp pro cd nothing happens. I can't access the
recovery partition. This is a retail xp pro.
 
You rebooted PC, with winxp cd in?
Do you have to enable boot from cd in the bios?
 
Yes,I use ezy boot,from 1st boot screen and load from cd. when this happens I
get
'boot from cd
boot from cd'
then pc goes to C/:prompt

the xp pro cd boots on my laptop and the win98 cd boots from the desktop
!!!!!!!
 
Why are you using a boot manager?
What occurs if you reboot with wincd in?
