when I display my hard drive c on the computer, by clicking computer, the

The first thing I would do is check in the root of the hard drive C:
for a file called autorun.inf and rename or delete it if there.

Go to...

In Folder Options, click the "File Types" tab.

Scroll down the list of file types until you find "Drive".
Click "Drive"
Click the "Advanced" button near the bottom
Click "Change Icon" in the new window

Either select one from what is displayed or browse.
OK your way out

Where did you get this suggestion. I just check on all 3 of my machines, none have a file type
named "Drive".

Mine is 2nd from the top of the list. The file extension is (NONE), and the
file type is Drive. I don't know if it has any bearing, but my options under
View are to show all hidden files and folders, and not to hide file
extensions.

I have tried exactly what I have been asked to do looks straight forward to
me but did it work NO. it acts as though it is trying to change the image as
in you see the save symbol and a flicker but alas it don't happen. Let me
explain i had a drive c and drive d. For some unknown reason drive d
originally had this icon, but yesterday I did a partition as I wanted my two
drives as one. After I had completed drive d was deleted along with the icon,
but then it replaced drive c icon.
