hard drive error

I have an error on my hard drive that states "unable to read drive 1 error
23. Error verifying drive 1 (of 1), sectors 546273 - 546400. Event 20_28.
Does anyone know how to fix this??

you may be able to use the windows cd and repairing your current windows
installation. it will also check the hd for errors if you let it do a
thorough check of all the sectors and let it mark the bad ones for
skipping.... insert windows cd, boot to setup, select new install, select
repair current installation. if it does not provide you with a repair
option, then it is likely the only option you have is to select new install.
hwever you might want to have a spare partition on the hd to use for the
secondary installation of windows. if you do get up and running, i would
make a backup of the old hd asap, since it sounds that the hd may be going
bad, one sector at a time....

You can try Spinrite from www.grc.com

Backup all data possible right away, though...
