I am running XP and have two hard drives. I think one may be going
bad, but what I really want to know is how to extract the hard drive
info without opening my case, Data such as drive model type. In 98 I
could run FDISK from the prompt...XP won't let me.

Thanks in advance

1st party software or 3rd party software can do this. Look
it up.

There is a free program called AIDA 32 that will tell you
that and more.

Another program that will tell you what you want
to know is Belarc Advisor:

"FDISK" isn't a valid command even in XP's Recovery Console (it's now
"DISKPART"). If the drive in question isn't formatted NTFS, you can run FDISK
from a Win9x startup disk.

The free system information utility Aida32 will give you the information.
Look in Computer> Summary> Storage. It will list the information you need.
Download the Enterprise version.
