Hi,
I have a parkardbell aloh@ which will not boot when I turn on the pc it
powers up and on the screen it says Packard bell, and press esc to run post
and press f2 to enter coms
both of which I can start.
I`ve tried switching the jumpers
and booting with the recovery floppy disk.but it does not seem to get to the
boot sequence i have put the hard drive in another Aoh@ pc with the same
spec`s
and got the same results.

is there a way to solve this problem or as I think I need a new hard drive

Any ideas
Brendan

Brendan,

You've described symptoms of a hard drive probably gone south. With the chassis
opened up, power up the system, and put your hand on the hard drive. Does it
vibrate when powered up, indicating that it is spinning? Does the drive make
its usual clicking noise as it recalibrates itself? When you access the
motherboard's BIOS CMOS setup menus, does the motherboard BIOS indicate presence
of the drive (assuming that the BIOS is capable of doing so)? If the answer to
these questions is "No", and you've checked and double checked cable and power
connections, the drive is probably history... Ben Myers

You could always boot from a f;oppy and see if C: is present, if so the
drive is there and if you install a second boot drive you may be able to
save data.
