Hard drive capacity misreported

My operating system (Win2k Pro) is showing the 7.8 GB for
a hard drive of 40 GB. I have installed win2k sp4 package.
But, it is still showing the same hard drive capacity (7.8
GB). Please some body can help me with that...

Where are you getting this figure from?

Might it be that you have a 7.8Gb partition as your C drive and the rest of
the drive is empty?

Try going to:

My Computer (right-click) | Manage | Storage | Disk Management

What does this show you?

That sounds like a BIOS limitation to me.
I'd suggest that you flash to a more current BIOS after
determining that your motherboard can indeed support large hard
disks.
