Running XP Pro on an amd64 system with latest nvidia drivers etc.
When I switch the machine on, XP starts up perfectly well and gets to
my desktop pretty quickly. However, for the next five minutes or so
something is happening in the background that fully utilises the hard
drive, forcing a long wait before I can start work (!).
I've checked for adware, spyware, viruses etc. And I can't see
anything in msconfig startup that would cause the problem - just the
usual stuff like Incd, Techpro Utilities, SpyWatcher and my anti virus
program.
Any thoughts on how tyo track down the mystery?
TIA...Pete
