Hard Disk

Just installed XP onto a new hard drive on my Laptop. Problem is that I left
my Lacie pluged in while installing XP on my hard drive. The result is that
my local drive has been named 'Local Disk E:\' and my Lacie 'Local Disk C:\'.
I thought this wouldn't be a problem; till I started to try and install some
programs - they don't recognise that E:\ is actually my drive..... They
won't install.

How can I change my drive directories? Swop C:\ for E:\....?

Many Thanks Toby

Remove your "Lacie" then perform a fresh install of XP

Hi Philo

Thanks for replying to my question - performing a 'refresh' of XP - excuse
my ignorance - will this effect any documents I have on my hard drive?

Yes. You need to do a clean install of Windows with no peripherals like
your LaCie attached. Back up anything you want to save because it will
be gone when you've finished the install.

Yep a backup of all data is in order as a clean install will erase
everything!
