Hard Disk used space ?

I have a 200 gig slave hard drive. I recently deleted 60 gig of files. The
total of all files on the disk now = 40 gig. However, the properties for this
drive show 100 gig used. I have defraged and error checked the disk with no
change in the discrepancy. Is there anything I can do to correct this without
reformatting the disk?

have you enabled Hidden and System Files in your view? You might have a
Pagefile on the drive, also restore points.

Yes I have them enabled. There is a page file on the drive, but I have
deleted that as well and defraged without solving the problem. All system
files are on the 80 gig C drive, so there are no restore points on this drive
either.

Thank you for your help.

Any Symantec software such as Norton System Works installed on
your computer? If so, you might want to check the Norton
Protected Recycle Bin.

You might also want to empty the Windows Recycle Bin.

FYI, the fact that "All system files are on the 80 gig C drive"
doesn't mean that there will be no restore points on your slave
drive. You'd need to disable monitoring of that drive to insure
that fact. Go to Control Panel -> System and double click on
the System Restore tab. You can turn off monitoring by clicking
on your slave drive and hitting the Settings button.

If none of these suggestions help, you might want to download
these utilities:

JDiskReport
http://www.jgoodies.com/

SequoiaView
http://www.win.tue.nl/sequoiaview/

Both programs will give you a graphical view of what's on your
hard drive.

Good luck
