just a query.
does uninstalling programmes free space in my hard disk?
i went to control panel...add/remove programmes ....and uninstalled a
programme which was around 500MB... but the amt of free space in my hard disk
did not change.
in addition, running System Restore actually took up more space in my C
drive.

after any uninstall check that the programs directory has actually been
deleted
system restore uses more space probably because it saves the pre restore
state too - so you can undo the restore :)

Hi Daphne,

Yes, uninstalling should free up space, but you may not see it until you run
a defrag. System Restore's allotted drive space can be adjusted from its tab
in System Properties (Control Panel).
