Hangs when I start it up

Hello,
My computer seems to hang at start up in a black window with Boot Menu <F10>
Boot Settings <F2>. Where do I begin to look for the problem? I have XP.

I forgot to mention The computer does go ahead & load, it just seems to hang
for a bit at that black window where I did not notice it hanging for such a
length of time before.
