Hanging application

I've had an enfuriating problem for the last two weeks, where one single
application (Corel Ventura 8) hangs intermittently whenever trying to access
any type of view of the folders eg. trying to import a picture or text, or
just trying to simply open a file. Using WinXP SP1 (although we did install
SP2 on the system, but there seemed to be a direct link between it's
installation of Ventura hanging). That said, we operate Ventura on 5 other
machines in the office, and all have SP2 installed and it works without issue.
What we've tried so far:

1. Changed motherboard
2. Changed RAM
3. Installed Ventura in 2 separate places and then on a different drive (on
the same system)
4. "Re-installed" Windows - ie. tried to to the repair installation.
5. Defragged the Hard Disk.
6. Changed the display adapter
7. Someone suggested it may be network related and that we should wait a
long while to see if the hung state unhangs itself (due to some network issue
eventually resolving) - waitied for 5 hours once - didn't resolve.

.... still the issue persists.

Everything else works great, except this one piece of software. What I'm
trying to work out is whether a complete Win reintall (from scratch) is
required or whether the CPU could somehow be the problem?

TIA
