Hanging 3-D Screen Savers

All my 3-D screen savers (including Plus XP) hang after
approximately 1 minute of normal operation. I have tried
to install patch Q306676 but this was rejected on the
basis that it is contained in an already installed
service pack.

I use a Philips 170B4 monitor and a Radeon 9600 graphics
card.

Any suggestions to solve this will be received gratefully

Check the settings of your Radeon card and you can also
check your 3D settings with the dxdiag tool. Go.start\run
and type in dxdiag and hit ok. Now click you way through
the tabs to see what you can do. Keep smiling.

Keep in mind 3-D screen saver suck up 100% of the CPU.

Which drivers are you using with the Radeon? There seemed to be some
troubles with the Catalyst 3.5 or 3.6, but the recently released
Catalyst 3.7 seem to be working fine for me (with an older Radeon card).
