Greetings,
Just wanted to share a site. I am currently using both Alzip and AlFTP
from this site: http://www.altools.net/

ALTools are all about 3 things:
Software should be user-friendly & easy to use.
Software should be useful.
Software should be fast.

The ALTools family of PC utilites is also 100% free for home users.

I really like the zip utility.

To get the FTP-thingy I have to register.
Is it an install and how big is it ?

I really like the zip utility.

It's a huge 1.9 Mb download for the zip-thingy.

I looked at ALZip a few weeks ago ... nice but doesn't do 7-zip.

Yes I could install 7-zip as well but ........

Yes, it is an install. It has a 1.6 megabyte footprint (or thereabouts).
The registration costs nothing, and I've received only the one email from
them.

Yes, it is a large download. I like the interface. I like the extraction,
especially of multipart .rar archives which seems to be faster than winrar.
I've not tested it with multipart .ace files. I have successfully recovered
a password using the built-in password recovery. It supports over 30
archive formats though I've never encountered most of them.

Looked at tugzip as well to but didn't like it.

I'm currently using IZArc which is OK BUT ... it opens many SFX files,
lets me see what's inside but REFUSES to extract any files. A pain in
the arse. For this reason I find it very strange why a lot of people keep
recommending IZArc.

I really liked to look of ALZip but more & more people are using
7-zip. One of these days, I'll make the time to find something to replace
IZArc ... maybe tugzip, maybe something else.

Barry...
