Half-Life 2 bug, vista or card?

I installed HL2: Ep. 1 on Vista, and there is a slight graphical bug. I'm
wondering if this is due to my card or Vista (I didn't play Ep.1 when my PC
had XP on it). Basically when I get closer than 5 feet to Alyx her hair and
ears disappear (become invisible), but further than 5 feet away it's fine.
I'm running at 1280x800, all options turned up to maximum, except AA and AF
(Vista really brings down the performance with AA/AF turned on). Anyone else
have this issue?

PS: First time I played HL2 with an HDR capable card... beautiful.

Ok, turns out it's not just that. I started playing again and the hair was
fine, but the characters face now becomes invisible when standing 5-10 feet
from her, less than 5 and its fine, and more than 10 and its fine. Also the
game hangs at certain points (for like 5 sec, then resumes). I hope the next
set of ATi drivers fixes these things.

I have similar abnormalities. When I run the CSS test in Vista, the image
smears across the screen. And certain items don't even render. I'm running
x64 on another drive on this same computer, and it's flawless. In other
words, it's Vista driver related.

The next set of ATi Vista drivers can't come soon enough.

You Guys are luckier than me, Since I bought my steam online I have to
download everything, when I got to vista I can't download anything, it just
says "Server Busy" but thats not true and Steam will not support vista at
this time.

P.S. On my other Vista Ep.1 works fine and I've only had the disappearing
issue once.
Good Luck

Why do you have to download everything? You can copy the Steam
directory from your XP install or backup the files to a DVD or CD's.
