I am trying to reinstall xp-sp1 upgrade directly from CD
after hard disk failure. I have a PC with pentium IV. I
also have 98SE to feed the upgrade requirement. However,
every time it comes back with "hal.dll missing or corrupt".
I checked the boot.ini file. It has only one entry. Even
then I rebuild it using bootcfg with no results. I am about to
give up. Why the OS installation should be so difficult? Is
there anyone who can help me? What on earth is going on!
