Since Friday, my system using xp home can no longer open web pages, view
e-mail using outlook express, use help and support, or access system restore.
All other applications work with no problem. When trying to use help and
support a message box opens that says: The application or DLL
C:\Windows\system32\mshtml.DLL is not a valid windows image. Please check
this against your installation diskette.

need help

thanks in advance,

How can these be downloaded to a system that cannot open Internet
Explorer?

By getting them from another computer that has an Internet connection.
Put the utilities on a usb thumbdrive or burn a cd-r. If you live all
by yourself in an isolated area and can't do this, have a friend get
the utilities for you and send them in an email. Or contact Microsoft.
There is no charge for support related to Windows Updates.

Thanks to all. I think the problem came from updates that conflicted with
some HP software. I uninstalled SP2 and everything now works fine.

Thanks to all. The problem was rectified by uninstalling SP2. Now
everything works like normal once again.
