guestbooks being attacted by robots how do i stop it?

I have numerous sites with guestbooks that are being attacted by robots. How
do i stop it? I've added added disallows for the guest log and guestbook in
the robots.txt file. It sklowed it down for a couple of days but the bad
entries seem to be picking up steadly again.

You can try changing the file names and see if that helps, short of not using one or putting it
behind a login, there is nothing else that you can do stop this. Bad robot/spider don't honor the
robots.txt file, plus the robots.txt provide a roadmap of the content you don't want found when used
to exclude specific content.

The robots.txt file will not stop spammers. It is for search engines.

As has been pointed out in this newsgroup numerous times over the past few
weeks, there is no way to stop spammers from getting into the FP guestbook.
Sorry.

that is for "robots" you DO want to scan your site i.e. search engines
indexing your site.

The robots.txt file is a exclusion file, to exclude robots from indexing your site. You really do
not need to have one in any site.
