Guest account login reboots PC

Recently my machine at work started doing something
funny. When you log on as Guest it goes through the
motions and gets to the desktop. Loads everything in the
startup group, etc. Then reboots. I can't seem to figure
out why it is doing this.

Any ideas?

Sounds like profile corruption. The guest account does not have a permanent
profile. I would first run Check Disk on the computer to see if it can
find/repair any problems. If that does not help, see the KB link below on how to
create a default profile. The reason I say that is I "think" the guest profile
is loaded from the default profile, but I may be wrong. If I am right, then
copying over the default profile may help. It might be worthwhile to also boot
into safe mode to see if problem persists. If it goes away, you have a problem
with a startup application/service and using a tool like msconfig [not included
in W2K, but will work if you can obtain a copy] to can help determine what the
problem is. You may also want to post in the win2000.setup_deployment
ewsgroup. --- Steve

I had this same thing happen to me. I remember it was due
to some type of Anti Virus I installed that corrupted the
NT loader, I was able to log in with Safe mode and undue
the install then everything worked fine after that.
