growing hard drive

Perhaps someone can help me. My C drive keeps growing and
growing and windows explorer cannot show me what is
causing the file growth. Does anyone know a good utility
I can use to determine what is causing the hard dirve to
grow.

If your hard drive really grows then you could make a lot
of money. Many people would love to have a disk that
grows as their demands increase . . .

I suspect it's the other way round: The amount of free
disk space is shrinking on your disk. These tools might
help:

Hi maq...,

I suggest you change your attributes in Folder Options to be able to view Hidden, and System files...(View tab)
And then, Do a search for all files larger than 5meg

If you have a hacker or growing file size, you will be able to find it easier.

Comrade,

The flaw in your logic is that the files are large. What if there are
many thousands of small files? Even if each file is only 1 byte in size,
depending upon cluster size they're going to collectively consume a huge
amount of disk space.

My humble advice is to remove your temp files, your temporary internet
files (along with downloaded files) and start looking for large directories.

On my new job they had servers that were routinely filling up. In several
years, no one bother to think of a method to find and destroy all the
clutter that had accumulated over the years. Every time the fileserver
would fill up, they would run around like chickens with their heads cut off
looking to erase some files so they could get through for another few days.
I wrote some software that eliminated over 1/2 of the junk on the disk.
Actually, I didn't erase any data, I pointed the junk data out to the users
and asked them to erase them if they didn't need it. The point is, it's
difficult to find junk on a disk.

Hile,

Well ask Pegasus; he knows how to find a needle in a haystack, or a Titanic in Cloak Mode.
