Grouping dates in a Pivot Table

I keep receiving the message "Cannot group that
selection" when I try to group a date field in my pivot
table column.

I have the source data and the pivot table field formated
as dates.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
If your date field includes blank cells, or cells with text, you won't
be able to group the dates.
